Walk with TOPS
Wednesday, May 15 at 11am • Blue Week: Sylvan Prairie Walk and Picnic: Join the TOPS naturalists for a springtime hike at a restored Oak Openings prairie. Meet at Sylvan Prairie Park (south lot), walk the 1.5 mile loop, bring your lunch and have a springtime picnic with staff!
Saturday, May 18 at 2pm • Blue Week: Oak Openings Southview Savanna Bike Tour: Join TOPS Director, Erika Buri, for a bike ride down the University Parks Bike Trail to the Southview Oak Savanna. TOPS started work on this site in 2002 and it is home to over 20 state-threatened or endangered species. The geology is cool too. Find out about this hidden community gem, then ride back to your cars, a total trip of 1.5 miles. Perfect for all bikers. Meet at the McCord Road Bike Trail Parking Lot.
TOPS 250 Walking Challenge
Stay in stride with the TOPS 250 Walking Program. Walk, run, or bike 250 miles or more from May 1 to October 31 to receive a special park achievement award to recognize your accomplishment.
Those who complete the 250 or more miles by October 31 should turn in their completed log at the Callahan Administrative Office by November 15.
While The Olander Park System hopes you walk at one of our five parks as much as possible, the TOPS 250 Walking Program is offered to help you maintain and enhance your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. If you walk on vacation, in the area mall, the Metroparks, or any other location other than one of our parks, estimate your mileage as close as possible and record it on your log. Remember to be honest, because you’re only cheating yourself!
Logs can be found in the office, the Nederhouser Community Hall information box, or online here
