Walk with TOPS
April 16 at 8pm – Sylvan Prairie Park: Let’s Go Woodcocking! – Join us in a “hunt” for that star of the spring skies, the American Woodcock. As the sun sets, we’ll observe the woodcocks’ courtship displays, with their buzzy “peents,” their spiraling flights and liquid, melodious twittering. Learn about the years of work TOPS put in to make Sylvan Prairie a haven for these wetland birds…and other wetland residents like frogs. We will walk a 1.5-mile loop on a paved trail with flat to gentle grades. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Meet at the South Lot (farthest lot from Brint Rd, next to playground) at 8pm.
April 24 at Noon – Fossil Park: Join TOPS staff for a walk from Fossil Park to Brint Rd. This 2-mile loop will take us past the Fossil Park Digging Quarry. Learn the history of Fossil Park and the not-so-hidden treasures you can find at one of only two prime Devonian Era sites on the entire planet. Meet at the information board at Noon.
